The Northern Animal Health Initiative engages youth during veterinary clinics by either having classes visit our clinic or our team visiting schools to talk about our work and relevant topics including rabies, dog safety and animal health.
To further build educational opportunities, Veterinarians Without Borders presents a curriculum rabies education kit for Nunavut schools, targeting grades 5 and 6. The education kit can be used by any teacher in a northern community.

There are three 45-minute lessons prepared on the topic of rabies in northern communities. Each lesson comes with a PowerPoint presentations for teachers to display in class, a handout for children to process the learnings and an exit ticket to measure how the lesson went. There is a fourth bonus lesson that focuses on Humans and Dogs.

The lesson plan on Rabies and People utilizes the Ulaayu Learns About Rabies children's book produced through the Newfoundland and Labrador government, the Sheshatshiu Innu School, and the Innu Language (Memorial University).
