Veterinarians Without Borders launches triple-match GivingTuesday campaign empowering Community Animal Health Workers worldwide

OTTAWA, ON, November 10, 2025 – Veterinarians Without Borders North America / Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Amérique du Nord (VWB/VSF) has launched its 2025 GivingTuesday campaign, spotlighting the frontline heroes of animal health: Community Animal Health Workers (CAHWs). These trained local leaders deliver lifesaving care in remote and underserved areas where veterinary services are limited or non-existent.

From now until December 2, 2025, every dollar donated will be tripled*, thanks to a generous match donor. That means each $1 becomes $3 to fund urgent animal care, vaccines, and training for CAHWs working across Africa, Asia, and Northern Canada.

“Community Animal Health Workers are the bridge between animals and the people who depend on them,” said Janine Mitchell, Executive Director of VWB. “They’re trusted members of their communities—people who know the local challenges and can deliver care that lasts.”

Across VWB’s global programs, CAHWs play a pivotal role in preventing disease, promoting food security, and protecting livelihoods. Whether in the grasslands of Ghana, the highlands of Cambodia, or the tundra of Nunavut, they provide critical services including vaccinations, parasite control, and education on animal welfare and zoonotic disease prevention.

Mitchell emphasized that this year’s GivingTuesday campaign is about building sustainable systems of care rather than short-term relief.

“Each trained CAHW strengthens a community’s resilience,” she said. “By supporting local capacity, we’re ensuring that care continues long after volunteers leave and programs finish—and that animals, people, and environments all thrive together.”

VWB aims to raise $45,000 through the triple-match campaign, which will directly support CAHW training, animal vaccination drives, and emergency response across its international and Northern programs — including ongoing veterinary care in crisis-affected regions such as Ukraine.

VWB invites all animal lovers and supporters to make their triple-matched gift before midnight ET on December 2 to help equip more CAHWs with the tools and knowledge they need to save lives.
