VWB raises over $26,000 for animals and communities in need through Animals & Ales Pet Photo Contest

NEW YORK, NY/OTTAWA, ON, August 26, 2025 — Veterinarians Without Borders North America (VWB) is celebrating the successful wrap-up of its fifth Animals & Ales Pet Photo Fundraiser Contest, which brought together pet lovers and craft beer enthusiasts from across the U.S. and Canada to raise critical funds for animals and communities in need worldwide. The contest raised over $26,000 CAD for access to life-saving veterinary care for animals and communities in need.

From August 11 to 25, 2025, participants submitted photos of their beloved pets, furry, feathered, or finned, for the chance to be featured on limited-edition beer and root beer labels crafted by six participating breweries. Each vote, representing a $1 donation, directly supported VWB’s animal health programs.

This year’s contest featured an exciting twist: each brewery produced three custom labels, tripling the opportunity for pets to become the face of an exclusive brew. The contest was hosted in partnership with:

  • Leduc Brewing (Leduc, AB)
  • Persephone Brewing (Gibsons, BC)
  • Hat Trick Brewing (Spokane, WA)
  • The Lone Girl Brewing (Waunakee, WI)
  • Sprecher Brewing (Glendale, WI)
  • Spyglass Brewing (Nashua, NH)

Thanks to the enthusiasm of participants, voters, and brewery partners, hundreds of entries were received, and thousands of votes were cast. In addition to the chance to be featured on a label, participants unlocked fun fundraising prizes, ranging from Animals & Ales swag to pet gear and brewery merchandise.

The winning pets for each brewery will be unveiled in the coming weeks, with label releases to follow.

About Veterinarians Without Borders North America/Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Amerique du Nord:
Using a One Health approach, Veterinarians Without Borders (VWB) works for, and with, communities in need to foster the health of animals, people and the environments that sustain us. VWB works in Africa and Asia to improve the living conditions of the most disadvantaged rural populations through veterinary and agricultural services, sustainable animal production, training, value chain development and sustainable natural resource management. Additionally, we support remote Northern communities, including Alaska, to improve animal health through temporary spay and neuter clinics, reduce the spread of rabies, and work to create the conditions for long-term, community-led sustainable animal health services.  We also provide emergency response support to communities following natural disasters and other crises. Learn more at: www.vwb.org
