OTTAWA, ON, October 29, 2024 –

*Donations will be matched until Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 12 midnight EST, or until the matched funding is fully utilized, thanks to our generous match partners.

As the holiday season approaches, Veterinarians Without Borders North America (VWB) is thrilled to announce its annual holiday match campaign, which will double the impact of each donation in support of animals in desperate need of veterinary care, worldwide. Through this campaign, VWB will match all donations*, maximizing resources for programs that help communities ensure the health and safety of animals – including injured, stray, and abandoned animals trapped on the frontlines of war-torn Ukraine, along with pet guardians and war-affected shelters in Ukraine.

“The holiday season is a time for giving, and through VWB’s holiday campaign, donors can make twice the difference for animals in desperate need of help,” said Charmaine Brett, Executive Director at VWB. “Stories like Zhulia’s, a dog rescued from the frontlines in Ukraine suffering from PTSD that is now thriving in a loving home, remind us of the profound impact of each contribution. Whether it’s helping animals in frontline areas, supporting local animal health initiatives, or assisting regions struck by disaster, every donation has a life-changing effect,” added Brett.

The matched funds will go directly toward VWB’s programs, which provide veterinary services, training, and resources to underserved areas. This includes:

Ukraine – Offering critical support to rescue animals from frontline areas and animal shelters that are caring for displaced animals.

Northern Canada – Providing ongoing veterinary services and training to remote northern communities lacking access to care.

Global veterinary care – Supporting animals in remote communities with necessary medical resources.

Emergency preparedness – Helping animals in areas prone to climate-related crises and food insecurity.

How to take part:

VWB invites individuals, companies, and communities to support this match campaign through the holiday season. Donations can be made directly through the VWB website, where every dollar will be matched to double the support for animals in need.

About Veterinarians Without Borders North America/Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Amerique du Nord

Using a One Health approach, Veterinarians Without Borders (VWB) works for, and with, communities in need to foster the health of animals, people and the environments that sustain us. VWB works in Africa and Asia to improve the living conditions of the most disadvantaged rural populations through veterinary and agricultural services, sustainable animal production, training, value chain development and sustainable natural resource management. Additionally, we support remote Northern Canadian communities to improve animal health through temporary spay and neuter clinics, reduce the spread of rabies, and work to create the conditions for long-term, community-led sustainable animal health services.
