Lila Train is a Project Manager at Veterinarians Without Borders North America/Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Amérique du Nord.
Lila Train joined Veterinarians Without Borders North America as a Project Manager, bringing more than 15 years of experience in international development and program leadership across Africa, Latin America, Asia, and Canada. Her work has spanned climate resilience, agriculture and food systems, health, education, gender equality, and sustainable livelihoods, with a strong focus on locally led approaches, partnerships, and results-based programming. Throughout her career, she has managed complex, multi-country initiatives and worked alongside communities, civil society organizations, research institutions, governments, and international donors to strengthen programs and support lasting development outcomes.
Before joining VWB, Lila held program management roles with CIMMYT, Plan International Canada, Right To Play International, Canadian Feed The Children, Action Against Hunger, and other international organizations. Most recently, at CIMMYT she managed global agricultural research and market intelligence initiatives focused on climate-resilient agriculture, smallholder farmers, and more equitable food systems. She holds a Master’s degree in International Development and Cooperation from the University of Granada and a BA from McGill University, and is completing a Graduate Certificate in Science and Policy of Climate Change at Royal Roads University. Lila works in English, Spanish, French, and Portuguese and is particularly interested in the connections between climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods, food systems, and the health and well-being of communities and the environments on which they depend.
