Veterinarians Without Borders launches 2025 Holiday Match campaign to bring care closer for animals and communities in need-copy

OTTAWA, ON, December 5, 2025This holiday season, Veterinarians Without Borders North America / Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Amérique du Nord (VWB/VSF) invites animal lovers everywhere to make their compassion go twice as far. From now until December 31, every dollar donated will be doubled, fueling veterinary care, training, and emergency response across the globe.

Whether in remote Northern Canadian communities, the farmlands of Ghana and Cambodia, or crisis-affected regions of Ukraine, each matched gift helps deliver lifesaving care where no veterinarian is available.

“Animals and the people who care for them are at the heart of healthy communities,” said Janine Mitchell, Executive Director of VWB. “The incredible generosity we saw on GivingTuesday inspired our matching donor to keep that momentum going — so that every gift made this holiday season travels twice as far. Together, we’re fueling care, compassion, and resilience in communities worldwide.”

This year’s Holiday Match campaign spotlights the power of community-led animal health. In Ghana, Senegal, and Cambodia, donations help train and equip Community Animal Health Workers (CAHWs) — local leaders who provide essential care close to home. In Northern Canada, gifts support invitation-based veterinary clinics and mentorship for northern trainees. And in Ukraine, they help deliver emergency food, medicine, and evacuation support for pets caught in conflict zones.

Each donation made before December 31 at 11:59 PM EST will be doubled up to $75,000, thanks to a generous matching donor. The campaign aims to raise critical funds to expand CAHW training, sustain preventive vaccination and spay/neuter clinics, and strengthen VWB’s ability to respond to emergencies where animals and livelihoods are at risk.

“At VWB, we believe that when people have what they need to care for animals, whole communities get healthier,” added Mitchell. “That’s the One Health approach in action—and that’s what every matched gift helps build.”

Donations will be doubled up to $75,000 until Wednesday, December 31, 2025, at 11:59 PM EST. For monthly gifts, only the first month’s donation will be doubled.
