Position: Program Officer/Veterinary Technician, Northern Canada

Location: Remote office with up to 30% travel

Reports to: Northern Canada Program Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

Program Support

·       Works and contributes within the team to the northern Canada program strategy and related projects  

·       Co-ordinate the recruiting, onboarding, and evaluating of volunteers for clinic delivery

·       Manage and monitor grants and prepare funding reports

·       Manage administrative duties within the Northern Canada programs team

·       Assist in budget preparation and expense management activities for the program

·       Support international companion animal program administration as required

·       Represent the organization and program in external meetings, workshops, conferences etc.

Temporary Clinic oversight

·       Ensure inventory and ordering of consumables, supplies for temporary clinics to meet needs

·       Veterinary technician tasks during identified temporary clinics

·       Lead set-up, execution and take-down of temporary clinics

·       Work with community members and stakeholders to ensure successful clinic and ongoing partnership

·       Support, oversee and motivate volunteers on identified temporary clinic trips

·       Develop best practices to improve overall clinic delivery and program impact

Skills and Experience  

·       Ideally 2+ years experience working as a veterinary technician, ideally in different clinic circumstances Demonstrated skills in program planning and support, stakeholder relations and community outreach  

·       Previous experience as an RVT in remote area or Northern Canada an asset

·       Excellent written and verbal communications in English

·       Strong organizational skills. ability to multi-task, and/or provide timely feedback on an as needed and/or urgent basis

·       Demonstrated intercultural sensitivity and effective interpersonal skills

·       Resourceful team player who can also be very effective independently

·       Familiarity with the One Health concept an asset

·       Event planning experience is an asset

·       Available February 15, 2023
