Stephen Woeller

Community Animal Health Worker Project Manager

Stephen joined Veterinarians Without Borders as a Community Animal Health Worker (CAHW) Project Manager for Canada’s North, bringing more than two decades of experience in community and organizational development, evaluation, and nonprofit leadership.

He developed an appreciation for the social importance of veterinary medicine and One Health principles while serving as Director of Development at the Ontario Veterinary College - where he was first introduced to VWB. In the years that followed, he worked with VWB as both a consultant and volunteer.

Throughout his career, he has worked alongside nonprofit and civil society organizations across Canada and in the Global South, strengthening organizational capacity and supporting locally driven solutions. In his current role, he supports VWB’s CAHW programming in Canada’s far North, partnering with communities and veterinary professionals to train local Community Animal Health Workers to deliver basic animal care in regions where year-round veterinary services are not an option.

Stephen lives on the Northern Bruce Peninsula - the traditional lands of the Saugeen Ojibway Nation - with his partner and their dog George.
