Christie Yakubu is the Country Manager, Ghana with Veterinarians Without Borders North America/Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Amérique du Nord.

Christiana "Christie" Kankani Yakubu joined the Veterinarians Without Borders in May 2025 as the Country Manager for Ghana. Christie brings over 23 years of experience in development work, spanning work across Ghana, East Africa, and Europe. She has a strong track record in project and partnership management, women’s economic empowerment, One Health coordination, community mobilization, and gender-transformative programming.

Prior to joining VWB, Christie served as Country Director for the Co-operative Development Foundation of Canada for 7 years, overseeing multi-country programs in Ghana and Senegal. She also worked in CARE Ghana, MEDA, Winrock International, TechnoServe among others.

Christie has designed and implemented innovative empowerment models such as the Gender Model Family, Male Gender Champions, Women Volunteer Extension Models, Women Sales Agent model, and Village Savings and Loans Associations (VSLA). Her leadership is grounded in inclusive, community-led approaches, and she is passionate about promoting  gender equality in Agriculture production and Animal Health Systems.
