Thon Aluong Abraham is the Livestock Program Officer, South Sudan at Veterinarians Without Borders North America/Vétérinaires Sans Frontières Amérique du Nord.
Thon has a master’s degree in Animal Health (MAH)-2020-2022 from the University of Juba (UoJ) in the School of Natural Resources and Environmental Studies. He also holds a Bachelor (Hon) degree holder in Animal Production completed in 2015 in the Department of Animal Science, UoJ. Thon has over six years of experience in implementing programs, animal health, food security, and livelihood initiatives with different organizations.
Thon joined VWB in August 2021 working as a Program Officer for VSF-Canada. Initially, Thon worked as an Emergency Livestock Response Program Officer-Roving on an ACF project in SURGE+/MET deployment areas. This engagement involved: project cycle and management, budgeting, planning, implementation, co-ordination of livestock activities, training of vulnerable groups in agricultural activities, small-scale entrepreneurs, animal disease identification, diagnoses, disease control and preventive measures, livestock treatment and vaccination campaigns, and fishing practices surveys among the rural populations.
